COLUMBUS, ohio – Colin Harmon-ulmer woke up too an unexpected sight Tuesday morning.

He said he looked outside his window and was very surprised. It took him more than five minutes to scrape several inches of snow off his car.

“I think the biggest issue is getting out of these parking spaces on the street,” Harmon-Ulmer said.

In Columbus, residential streets are third priority. The Columbus Department of Public Service said 50 plow trucks focus first on the main, heavy traffic roads.

“Obviously focusing on our top priorities around hospitals, senior centers, schools, major employment centers,” Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther said during a storm response news conference Tuesday morning.

The crews are on the roads, salting and plowing around the clock after big storms.

“The Snow Warriors will be working 24/7 in 12-hour shifts to plow approximately 4,600 lane miles on city streets,” Department of Public service Director Kelly Scocco said.

Mayor Ginther and Department of Public Service leaders say, crews were ready for this first major storm of the winter. Plow trucks were staged.
