JP McManus’s luxury Adare Manor Hotel Resort experienced losses in 2023, according to a recently released auditor’s report.
Despite its five-star rating and reputation, the resort’s operating company, Tizzard Holdings Unlimited Company, reported a loss for the fiscal year ending December 30, 2023. While detailed financial information isn’t publicly accessible due to the company’s unlimited status, auditor’s reports filed with the Companies Office shed light on the financial performance.
BDO, the auditing firm, confirmed in their report that the financial statements accurately reflect the company’s assets, liabilities, and financial position as of December 30, 2023, highlighting the incurred loss. Notably, previous auditor’s reports from 2019 to 2022 did not disclose whether the company made a profit or loss, with 2018 being the only previous year confirming a loss.
Liam Hession, a representative from BDO, stated that the directors’ decision to utilize the “going concern” basis for accounting is appropriate, and that no significant uncertainties cast doubt on the company’s ability to continue operating for at least twelve months.
Interestingly, despite the reported loss, the resort’s online reservation system indicates a thriving business. Room availability remains scarce, particularly for weekend stays, with even the most affordable rooms priced at €750 per night. Suite options command significantly higher prices, ranging from €6,625 to €7,425 per night.
JP McManus acquired Adare Manor for €30 million in 2014, investing an estimated €50 million in its restoration and renovation. The resort’s 840-acre property, which boasts a world-class golf course, was selected to host the 2027 Ryder Cup.
Despite the reported loss, Adare Manor continues to be a sought-after destination, attracting discerning travelers and showcasing the enduring appeal of luxury hospitality.
