The AI Insights matchday companion, built on Microsoft Azure and Azure OpenAI Service, delivers automated, text-based analysis during live matches. It identifies key narratives, player performances, and notable milestones that go beyond scores and commentary, offering fans deeper context in real time. This feature was first unveiled during the Day-Night Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground as part of the CommBank Women’s Ashes series between Australia and England. Fans using the Cricket Australia Live App now receive personalised journeys and can access official scorecards dating back to 1886. The integration of over a century of cricket history with real-time AI analysis allows the app to serve as both an educational tool for newcomers and an enriched experience for longtime followers. According to Kieran McMillan, Head of Customer Experience at Cricket Australia, the update reflects the organisation’s commitment to delivering world-class fan engagement. “By combining real-time AI insights with new interactivity for follow-up questions and access to official scorecards dating back to 1886, we are offering a unique level of engagement and personalisation in sports technology,” he said. Mike Morgan, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Insight APAC, emphasized the role of AI in enhancing fan interaction. “By uniting advanced artificial intelligence, cloud innovation, and a passion for sport, we are helping Cricket Australia deliver a richer, more personalised, and truly interactive experience for every fan,” he stated.
