Dangerous Heat Continues
Meteorologist Damon Shaw has your Monday forecast
and good Sunday evening to you. It’s been one of the hottest days of the year. In fact, we made it up to 102 in Fort Smith. That ties for the hottest day so far we’ve seen this year. And 1998 was the high-end fable. A few of us picking up on our brief afternoon shower that will continue, maybe an isolated shower thru early this evening in a few locations, but most locations will be dry as skies become mainly clear. After sunset tonight, we drop down into the 70s briefly and then we’ll be back up into where we were for Sunday afternoon as far as those temperatures go.
We’ll see once again those highs into the mid to upper 90s in northwest Arkansas and then add a little above 100 degrees in the river valley for tomorrow. once again we may see some of those isolated showers develop in the heat of the afternoon, pretty easy to do, at least in a few select locations with all this heat around. Mainly during the afternoon and early evening hours, but restricted only about 20% coverage for Monday afternoon. But again,we may see a few isolated showers and a couple spots and then for Tuesday, probably almost as hot as what we saw for Monday in northwest Arkansas, about as hot as what we saw for Sunday and Monday in the river valley once again on Tuesday, but we’ll start to see a little bit better coverage of some scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially towards Tuesday evening. And a little bit more in the way of relief for both in the form of some rain chances and also some cooler temperatures by Wednesday.
I’ll talk more about that coming up in your Arkansas CW News at 9 and also 4029 news at 10. Have a good night.
