The investigation of the Thailand Police on the murder of the Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrietaconfessed by the young Spaniard daniel sanchoUp to now, it has followed two speeds: an accelerated one, fostered by the interest in presenting the closed case before public opinion, and another more leisurely one, determined by the complexity of the process.

When one month has passed since the murder of Arrieta on August 2 in the phangan islandin southern Thailand, the Police continue to work on the investigation report that they will have to present to the neighboring Prosecutor’s Office Koh Samuiwhere Sancho is in provisional prison.

The delay is not out of the ordinary, since the Police have a 84 day period for your investigation from the entrance in provisional prison of Sancho on August 7 (which would therefore conclude by the end of October), but would ostensibly go against claims that it was finished.

On August 15, the number two of the Thai Police, Surachate Hakparn, who is supervising the investigation, announced in an appearance before the press at the Phangan police station the end of the investigations against Sancho and accused him of premeditated murder, a crime that can be punished with the death penalty in the Asian country.

The senior Thai police officer, known as Big Joke (Great Joke) and who usually puts a face to the most serious events or those involving foreigners, repeated in an interview on August 21 that “the case was closed quickly and without problems.”
