Dartmouth Health and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Announce New Board Members

Dartmouth Health and Dartmouth-Hitchcock have announced teh election of three new members to their Boards of Trustees, effective January 1, 2026. These appointments bring fresh perspectives and expertise to the governance of these vital healthcare institutions.
New Appointments
The newly elected trustees are:
- Patrick J. Lanier, BA – Dartmouth Health Board
- James A.Heckman,MD – Dartmouth-Hitchcock Boards
- Michael F. Rotondo, MD, FACS – Dartmouth-Hitchcock Boards
Patrick J. Lanier
Patrick J.Lanier joins the Dartmouth Health board as the President of the Health Management Academy (HMA). HMA is a peer learning company dedicated to addressing the most complex challenges in healthcare through convening, research, policy, and innovation. Lanier oversees HMA’s finance, strategy, and new product progress. Prior to HMA, he held key executive roles at the Advisory Board Company (ABCO), including leading strategy and new product development, and overseeing $600 million in annual revenue. Earlier in his career, Lanier conducted clinical research at Duke University’s Department of Neurosciences.
James A. Heckman, MD
Dr. James A. Heckman, a native of Weare, New Hampshire, joins the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Boards as Section Chief of Internal Medicine at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC). Dr. Heckman joined DHMC in 2021,bringing a focus on healthcare delivery redesign,team development,and clinician well-being. He previously held a position at Beth Israel Deaconess medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston, where he was a Linde family Fellow in Primary Care Leadership. At DHMC, he has focused on fostering positive culture change and advancing innovative care models.
Michael F. Rotondo, MD, FACS
Dr. Michael F.Rotondo, CEO of the University of Rochester Medical faculty Group (URMFG), joins the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Boards. URMFG comprises 2,100 faculty across 22 core specialties and over 135 sub-specialties, providing over 4 million ambulatory visits and procedures annually.Dr. Rotondo also serves as Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and Senior Vice President of the University of Rochester Medical Center. He founded the UR Health Lab, an incubator for digital health innovation. Dr. rotondo trained in surgery at Georgetown University and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
