Darwin AG Launches Multi-Cancer Check Blood Test for Early Detection
Munich-based Darwin AG has commercially launched its Multi-Cancer Check, a blood test designed for the early detection of 13 different types of cancer. The test, developed in collaboration with Wholomics GmbH, utilizes innovative liquid biopsy technology and multi-omics analysis to identify molecular signals from various tumors simultaneously. Initial sales will be driven primarily through Darwin AG’s 70% subsidiary, NovoMedic GmbH.
Innovative Technology and Broad Cancer Screening
Unlike many existing liquid biopsy tests that focus on single cancer types, the Multi-Cancer Check offers broad pre-screening for a total of 13 common cancers, including colon, uterus, ovarian, lung, and bladder cancer. This allows for the detection of a wider range of solid tumors at earlier stages. The test profiles 150 metabolites, lipoproteins, and other markers using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy paired with an artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm GenomeWeb.
Validation Study Results
A validation study analyzing 862 samples, including 440 confirmed cancer cases, demonstrated the test’s high performance. The Multi-Cancer Check achieved a sensitivity of 80.7% with a specificity of 99.1%. Notably, the sensitivity reached 82.5% even in stage I cancers Darwin AG.
Commercialization and Company Overview
Darwin AG announced the launch on March 18, 2026 MENAFN. The company, a publicly listed holding company, provides strategic and financial support to various consumer-facing brands focused on personalized health products. These include Genius, offering personalized genetic tests, and Novogenia, specializing in nutrigenetics and preventive genetic testing. Darwin’s research and development, along with production, are based in Austria.

Financial Performance
Darwin AG reported revenues of €55 million ($63 million) for 2025, a 117% increase compared to 2024, driven by sales of its microarray-based tests GenomeWeb.
Looking Ahead
The launch of Multi-Cancer Check positions Darwin AG within the rapidly growing multi-cancer early detection market. The company is currently in a “soft-launch” phase through NovoMedic, with plans to expand availability and further refine the test based on real-world data and feedback. This advancement in non-invasive cancer diagnostics holds the potential to improve survival rates through earlier detection and intervention.
