Bridging Indonesia’s Digital Divide: Data’s Ambitious Expansion Plans
Data, a prominent Indonesian internet service provider (ISP), is aiming to dramatically expand internet access across the nation, bringing high-speed connectivity to 500,000 homes by 2025. This ambitious initiative, spearheaded by the Djarum Group, represents a significant stride towards bridging the digital divide engulfing Indonesia’s vast archipelago.
Data’s core strategy revolves around its "home connect" model, which allows them to bypass traditional infrastructure reliance on partnerships. By directly connecting to homes, Data offers competitive pricing, personalized service, and a seamless customer experience. This direct approach enables them to control the network backbone and deliver high speeds at an affordable price point, targeting the lower middle class with introductory packages starting at IDR 200,000 per month for speeds up to 100 Mbps.
This approach emphasizes Data’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, targeting underserved communities and reaching areas with limited fiber infrastructure. Recognizing the geographical complexities of Indonesia, Data actively collaborates with local businesses to leverage existing networks and ensure wider coverage.
"We believe everyone deserves reliable, high-quality internet," stated Agus Setiono, President Director of Data. "Our focus is expanding internet access across Indonesia, especially to underserved communities. We’re committed to bridging the digital divide and empowering individuals and communities through access to information, education, and online opportunities."
Data’s vision extends beyond mere connectivity. Setiono emphasizes the company’s role as a catalyst for positive social and economic impact, fostering entrepreneurial opportunities and driving economic growth by connecting more Indonesians to the digital world.
"Access to reliable internet is crucial for economic growth. It fuels innovation, drives entrepreneurship, and opens up new markets. We believe that by connecting more Indonesians to the internet, we can contribute to a more prosperous and inclusive future for the nation," Setiono explained.
This ambitious expansion plan is timely, aligning with the Indonesian government’s ambitious goal of increasing national internet penetration to over 80%. Data’s commitment to bridging the digital divide with innovative strategies and impactful partnerships positions it as a key player in shaping Indonesia’s future as a digitally empowered nation.
