David Corenswet replaces Henry Cavill as the new Superman of the DC Studios universe

James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, confirmed the actor David Corenswet as the new lead in his film “Superman: Legacy.”

Gunn, writer and director of the film, confirmed through Instagram that Corenswet will be the actor who will give life to the famous journalist and undercover superhero, Clark Kent in the film whose premiere is scheduled for the July 11, 2025.

The film will be produced by Peter Safran, co-head of the studio along with Gunn, and is part of the “Gods and Monsters” project with which DC Studios intends to reboot the DC Comics universe, after a series of failures box office hits like “Black Adam” and “Shazam!”.

The director also announced that the actress Rachel Brosnahan will be the new Lois Lane, reporter of Daily Planet and Kent’s main love interest in fiction.

At the beginning of the year, Safran advanced that “Superman: Legacy” will show the journey that the superhero created by Jerry Siegel y Joe Shuster, and his attempts to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas.
