DBV technologies Announces First Patient Enrolled in Phase 3 Trial of Viaskin® Peanut for Children Ages 6-12
Basking Ridge, NJ – November 2, 2023 – DBV Technologies today announced the enrollment of the first patient in its pivotal Phase 3 trial, known as PEPITES, evaluating viaskin® Peanut, an epicutaneous patch for the treatment of peanut allergy in children aged 6 to 12 years. This marks a critically important step forward in the growth of a potential new treatment option for children living with this potentially life-threatening allergy.
The PEPITES trial is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study designed to assess the efficacy and safety of Viaskin® Peanut in reducing the risk of allergic reactions to peanut in children. The trial will enroll approximately 300 children across multiple centers in the United States and Europe.”We are very pleased to announce the first patient enrollment in the PEPITES trial,” said Dr. Pharis Mohideen, Chief Medical Officer of DBV Technologies. “Peanut allergy substantially impacts the lives of millions of children and their families. viaskin® Peanut has the potential to offer a convenient and safe way to build tolerance to peanut, reducing the anxiety and fear associated with accidental exposure.”
Viaskin® Peanut utilizes a novel approach to immunotherapy, delivering a small, controlled dose of peanut protein through the skin. This method aims to desensitize the immune system, reducing the severity of allergic reactions upon accidental peanut exposure.
The company will continue to provide updates on the progress of the PEPITES trial. further data regarding the trial can be found on ClinicalTrials.gov, X (formerly Twitter) and LinkedIn.
Viaskin is a registered trademark of DBV Technologies.
