The Omega Constellation, first introduced in 1952, holds a unique place in watchmaking history as the world’s first collection of completely chronometer-certified watches Omega. A chronometer designation signifies a high degree of accuracy, a standard historically validated through rigorous testing at observatory competitions. Early Constellation models were distinguished by their caseback medallions and featured design details like “pie pan” dials and “dog leg” lugs.
The Modern Constellation and the Influence of Gerald Genta
The Constellation was refreshed in 2020 with a design based on the C-shaped case created by renowned watch designer Gerald Genta in the 1960s Gear Patrol. The addition of distinctive “claws” to the bezel occurred in the 1980s, adding a unique aesthetic to the collection.
