Dementia Rates on the Decline: A Glimmer of Hope

More than 7 million Americans currently live with dementia, and that number is projected to rise to 12 million by 2040 as the Baby Boomer generation ages. While this trend is concerning, there’s a glimmer of hope: the rate at which new dementia cases are diagnosed is actually decreasing.

Preventing and Slowing Dementia

Recent research highlights an interesting shift. Studies reveal a consistent decline in dementia incidence across high-income countries like the U.S. and Europe. Experts estimate this decline to be around 13% per decade. This means fewer new cases are emerging relative to the growing senior population.
