Denon Launches New Home Speaker Series with Dolby Atmos Support

After several years of relative quiet, Denon has unveiled a new range of Home speakers, featuring Dolby Atmos support across the entire lineup. The new series consists of the Home 200, Home 400 and Home 600, designed to complement, rather than replace, the existing Home 1.0 series—comprising the Home 150, Home 250, and Home 350.

Compatibility and Ecosystem Integration

Denon allows users to operate both the Home 1.0 and Home 2.0 systems through the same HEOS app, a feature differentiating it from some competitors who restrict functionality for older products. Music can be streamed to both new and existing speakers within the Denon HEOS ecosystem, even though stereo pairing between generations is not supported. The new speakers are also compatible with the Denon Home 550 Soundbar, enabling the creation of a surround sound system.

Notably, a single Home 600 speaker can simulate a surround sound experience by splitting the audio signal into left and right channels, effectively acting as virtual rear speakers.

Pricing and Availability

The new Denon Home speakers are priced as follows:

  • Denon Home 200 — $399 | £299 | €349
  • Denon Home 400 — $599 | £449 | €499
  • Denon Home 600 — $799 | £599 | €699

These prices are competitive, especially considering the seven-year gap since the launch of the Home 1.0 series. The Home 400 maintains the same price point as the Home 250, and the Home 350, while the Home 200 has seen a price increase from £219 to £299, reflecting its inclusion of virtual Dolby Atmos support.

Design and Features

The new Denon Home series features a unified design aesthetic available in Stone and Charcoal finishes. Physical controls are located on the side or top surface of each device, and connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB-C audio, and aux-in.

The HEOS app serves as the central control hub, allowing users to connect up to 64 HEOS products across 32 zones. The system supports high-resolution audio streaming from services like Tidal, Amazon Music, and Qobuz, as well as Spotify Connect.

Sound Quality and Competition

Initial impressions of the new speakers highlight a rich, warm sound profile, with decent bass and a wide soundstage. The Home 600, in particular, demonstrates an expansive soundstage with Dolby Atmos music, creating an immersive listening experience.

Denon’s new Home series enters a competitive market alongside offerings from Sonos and Bluesound. The speakers are available for purchase now from Denon and authorized retailers.
