The second vice president and acting Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, has resumed her fight with the socialist part of the Government following the entry of the Saudi sovereign fund into Telefónica as the largest shareholder and has called for the operation to be stopped.
“We cannot allow this operation to continue. This is what I have sent to the economic vice president of the acting Government and that is how I am going to defend it,” said the leader of Sumar at a book presentation in Rome, according to EFE.
Yolanda Díaz was the first member of the Government to speak out on the purchase of 9.9% of Telefónica by STC Group, the main operator in the Arab country, for 2.1 billion euros, announced last Tuesday. The vice president called that same night to protect the strategic sovereignty of Spain.
For Díaz, Spain must “think” about what the country’s strategic sectors are, who can be part of the boards of directors of those sectors and what the limits are: “Of course I will work so that this operation does not occur,” he reiterated. .
