Nevada cities landed in very different places in a new national ranking of dog-kind communities.
Las Vegas performed the strongest in the state, earning a spot inside the top 50 among 500 U.S. cities evaluated by lawnstarter, a home-services platform that publishes national city studies.
Reno and Sparks ranked much lower, and North Las Vegas placed near the bottom of the list, highlighting differences in access to dog parks, pet services and dog-friendly housing across the state.
The study reviews 37 factors including veterinarians, dog-friendly businesses, housing, affordability and local amenities.
How Nevada cities ranked for dog friendliness
- Las Vegas, Nevada – No. 39: Las Vegas ranks among the top cities for veterinary access, scoring seventh nationwide in the care category. Solid community amenities and dog-friendly businesses support its standing, but low housing availability for dog owners and higher pet-care costs hold the city back.
- reno, Nevada – No. 183: Reno performs well in veterinary access but lags in community and business categories. Housing and affordability scores also fall below average, pulling down its overall ranking.
- Henderson, Nevada – No. 355: Henderson scores well in community amenities, but its housing ranking is among the lowest in the study. The city also trails in dog-friendly businesses and access to pet services, tho pet-care affordability is comparatively stronger.
- Sparks, Nevada – No. 417: Sparks ranks lower in most categories, particularly housing and affordability.
