Donald Trump has been indicted for the fourth time. On this occasion, it has been the Georgia State Prosecutor’s Office – controlled by the Republican Party, to which the president belongs – who has done it. The reason for the prosecution is similar to that of another of the cases facing the president, for which he was charged two weeks ago: his attempt to steal the 2020 elections.

On this occasion, the prosecution has filed 41 charges against Trump, including racketeering, which in English is a word that brings to mind only one thing: the mob. In addition to Trump, 18 other people have been charged, including his chief of staff, Mark Meadows, and former New York mayor and 2008 presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani, who has also been indicted in another of the cases against Trump.

With this prosecution, the former president faces no less than 119 criminal charges against him. The 78 cases of the three cases prior to this one carry a combined maximum sentence of 199 years in prison. These three processes are one in the state of New York for document falsification to violate the legislation of electoral campaigns, and two more, of the federal State (the equivalent, with all possible exceptions, of the Spanish central Administration), for the retention of state secrets after leaving the White House and for his attempt to steal the election.

Now, Georgia has charged him for that same reason, although this process is limited exclusively to his actions in that state, including the famous phone call in which the then president asked local authorities to seek the 11,770 votes necessary for him to be able to win an election that, coincidentally, he had lost by 11,769 ballots.

But the 97 pages of the indictment include many other attempts by the president and his associates to steal an election that he had lost. The alleged crimes include intimidation of officials and theft and attempted manipulation of computer data. The Fulton County prosecutor – where the city of Atlanta is located – Fani Willis, who has carried out the investigation, declared yesterday (early today in Spain) that Donald Trump has been charged “for association of criminals to commit criminal offenses” .
