DreamPark: The Portable Theme Park Revolutionizing Location-Based Entertainment

Brent Bushnell and Aidan Wolf believe they’ve solved a major challenge in location-based entertainment.Traditional attractions demand fixed real estate, significant hardware, and significant upfront investment. DreamPark, their new mixed reality platform, replaces physical walls and rides with software delivered through a headset and a streamlined scanning process. The result is a portable theme park that installs in hours and functions both indoors and outdoors. They are showcasing it at the IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and attractions) annual gathering next week.

The concept originated at Two Bit Circus, Bushnell’s established micro amusement park in Los Angeles. Wolf and a team of XR developers used the Two Bit offices too test passthrough mixed reality experiments. One early prototype involved a racetrack built in a parking lot using modified headsets and drift trikes. Bushnell vividly remembers his watch registering a heart rate of 150 bpm as he navigated a digital world overlaid onto the asphalt. That moment convinced him DreamPark could become a compelling reality.
