Major Rockslide Closes E134 Highway in Etne, Norway
A significant rockslide has blocked the E134 highway near Fjæra in Etne municipality, Vestland county, Norway, as of Sunday, March 1, 2026. While no injuries have been reported, several buildings in the vicinity have been impacted by the landslide.
What Happened?
Police received reports of the large rockslide on the E134 Haukelivegen at approximately 10:44 AM local time. The road is currently closed, and individuals who were near the slide sought shelter in a nearby tunnel according to police. Operasjonsleder Dag Steinkopf of the Sørvest police district confirmed that buildings in the area have been affected, but there have been no reports of individuals being caught in the slide as reported by VG.

Authorities have stated that the road will remain closed for an extended period as stated in VG. A detour has been established via Lovraeidet and Ølen on the 134 according to TV2.

A neighbor who spoke with Haugesunds Avis confirmed that, to their knowledge, no one was injured in the rockslide according to VG.
