Tegal Regency, Central Java – February 7, 2026 – Recent landslides in Tegal Regency, Central Java Province, have resulted in significant material losses and damage to infrastructure, according to reports from the Central Java Province Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and the Tegal Regency BPBD. The landslides, triggered by prolonged heavy rainfall in late January and early February, have impacted numerous villages, particularly in the Padasari region.
Initial assessments indicate that 464 residents’ houses have been affected, with 205 units sustaining heavy damage. Beyond residential properties, critical infrastructure has also been compromised. seven educational facilities, including primary and secondary schools, have suffered damage, disrupting learning for local students. One worship facility and one health facility have also been impacted, hindering access to essential community services.
The landslides have also caused damage to vital infrastructure supporting agriculture and transportation. One irrigation weir has been damaged, potentially impacting local farming communities. A village bridge has been destroyed, and three points along village and district roads are impassable, hindering movement and the delivery of aid. Notably, the Padasari village office has also sustained damage, complicating administrative functions and disaster response coordination.
Authorities are currently focused on providing emergency assistance to affected residents, including shelter, food, and medical care. Damage assessments are ongoing to determine the full extent of the losses and to inform long-term recovery efforts. The BPBD Tegal Regency is coordinating with provincial and national agencies to secure additional resources and support for the affected communities. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and heed warnings from local authorities regarding potential further landslides, especially during periods of continued rainfall.
