Ellie Goulding Lends Voice to WWF’s New Sonic Logo
Ellie Goulding, the chart-topping singer and long-time environmental advocate, has collaborated with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to create the organization’s first-ever sonic logo. The auditory branding aims to give a voice to nature and strengthen the charity’s message of conservation.
A Sonic Identity for Conservation
Goulding, who has been a WWF ambassador since 2022, worked with MassiveMusic to develop the sonic logo. The logo incorporates sounds inspired by the natural world, combined with Goulding’s vocals, to represent the planet’s ecosystem. The initiative was launched with a specific nod to Mother’s Day, highlighting the connection between protecting the environment and safeguarding it for future generations.
From Bamboo Signals to Melody
The creation of the sonic logo involved a unique process of capturing bioelectric signals from bamboo – the primary food source for pandas, WWF’s iconic symbol. A biophilic composer translated these signals into a melody, which was then interwoven with Goulding’s vocals. The resulting sound is designed to evoke the interconnectedness of wildlife, natural elements, and humanity.
Goulding on the Collaboration
“When WWF approached me with the idea of giving a voice to mother nature – bringing humans, wildlife and the elements together – it felt incredibly powerful,” Goulding stated.
WWF’s Brand Elements
The sonic logo is part of WWF’s broader effort to strengthen its brand identity. WWF emphasizes the importance of consistent brand elements to communicate effectively and build recognition.
Ellie Goulding was made an MBE in the King’s New Year honours list.
