PLAY International is seeking a Pedagogical Coordinator to lead the implementation of a sports-based education project in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Project Overview: “Pour Elles: Sport & Culture”

PLAY International began working in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2025 with the “Pour Elles: Sport & Culture” project, funded by the French Development Agency (AFD). This initiative aims to improve the quality of life and physical and mental well-being of young girls by increasing their access to sports. The project will involve the rehabilitation of sports infrastructure in five communes of Kinshasa.

Responsibilities and Missions

The Pedagogical Coordinator will be responsible for the implementation of educational activities, including:

  • Developing pedagogical content in collaboration with a pedagogical advisor based in Paris.
  • Training sports animators, teachers, and coaches in innovative sports education techniques.
  • Monitoring and supporting trained individuals to ensure the sustainability of the program.
  • Contributing to the evaluation of the program through data collection and reporting.
  • Participating in team meetings and events organized by PLAY International.

Key Objectives

The role focuses on three key objectives:

  • Content Development: Participating in needs assessments, co-creating pedagogical materials, supervising test sessions, and contributing to monthly coordination meetings.
  • Activity Organization: Developing training plans, animating training sessions, evaluating training effectiveness, and providing ongoing support to trainees.
  • Mission Support: Participating in team life, organizing events, and contributing to other missions as needed.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • A degree in STAPS (Studies of Physical Activities and Sports), Sports Education, or Pedagogy.
  • At least three years of experience in sports training, animation, or education.
  • A strong understanding of basic animation and active pedagogy principles.
  • Experience in andragogy (adult learning).
  • Knowledge of local languages (e.g., Lingala) is desirable.
  • Awareness of gender issues is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
