Electric Vehicle Competition to Showcase Latest Models and Charging Tech

A growing field of electric vehicles (EVs) is set to compete in an upcoming event designed to test both vehicle performance and charging infrastructure. The competition, featuring both “Business” and “Tourism” categories, will see over 70 crews participate, with registration currently open.

Competition Format and Categories

Participants will navigate routes with different objectives. The “Business” category focuses on efficiency and speed, requiring crews to reach Cēsis and Tartu via the shortest route without stopping for leisure. The “Tourism” category, conversely, challenges teams to cover the longest distance possible within an eight-hour timeframe.

Featured Vehicles

A diverse range of EVs will be on display and in competition, including:

  • Tesla Model Y: Tesla’s popular electric SUV will be represented by the “Morek” team.
  • Mercedes-Benz CLA: The “Ignitis ON” Electric Car of the Year will also be participating.
  • Volkswagen ID.7 Pro: Competing against the BMW iX3 Neue Klasse.
  • KIA Models: Baltic KIA importers will field three crews with the latest KIA models.
  • Nissan Leaf: A team is considering participation with the newest Nissan Leaf.
  • Dongfeng MHERO: The “Deals on Wheels” team will showcase the MHERO, a 3900 kg electric SUV with 1088 hp, starting at €169,990, capable of accelerating to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, and offering a range of up to 450 km on its 142.7 kWh battery.

Infrastructure and Technology Testing

The competition serves as a real-world testing ground for both electric vehicles and the charging infrastructure that supports them. This year’s event continues that tradition, providing a platform to evaluate the latest advancements in EV technology.

Industry Involvement

Integrated Engineering (IE), a company specializing in performance upgrades for VW and Audi vehicles, is involved in the competition. BorgWarner is also contributing to the advancement of EV technology with its 7-in-1 Integrated Drive Module, supplying a leading Chinese OEM.

Registration

Participant registration is now open and will continue until 70 applications are received.
