Euisun Chung Re-elected as President of the Korea Archery Association
Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung has been re-elected as the 14th president of the Korea Archery Association (KAA), marking his sixth consecutive term. This commitment to archery continues a legacy started by his father, Honorary Chairman Mong-Koo Chung, in 1985.
Chung’s leadership from 2005 has seen impressive growth in archery across Korea. During his tenure, the number of archers participating in competitive archery has surged from 1,633 to 2,800, while recreational archery participation has skyrocketed from zero to 778 archers across 195 teams.
Chung’s vision has propelled Korean archery to unprecedented success on the world stage. The national team’s Olympic performance has been particularly remarkable, winning a total of 18 gold, three silver, and four bronze medals across five summers Olympics from 2008 to 2024. Notably,during the 2024 Paris Olympics, they achieved a historic feat, securing five gold medals, including a remarkable 10 consecutive wins in the women’s team events.
Investing in Athlete Development and Technological Advancement
Chung’s dedication to supporting athletes is evident in his commitment to investing in cutting-edge training facilities and technologies. Prior to the 2024 Olympics, the KAA implemented advanced training equipment such as personal training shooting robots and posture analysis systems, significantly boosting athlete performance.
Alongside this, Chung’s leadership has fostered greater transparency and fairness within the KAA. He has implemented modern administrative systems and a transparent selection process, ensuring the association operates with the highest ethical standards.
Expanding Global Presence
Chung’s influence extends beyond Korea. As the eighth president of the Asian Archery Federation (AAF) since 2005, he has strategically positioned the AAF as a leading force in the sport across Asia, launching initiatives to elevate the sport at all levels.
Hyundai Motor Group, under Chung’s leadership, has maintained a steadfast commitment to archery. The company’s partnership with the World Archery Federation, extending until 2025, underlines its dedication to growing the sport globally through events like the Hyundai Archery World Cup and the Hyundai World Archery Championships.
