Jailton Almeida’s time with MMA’s premier promotion has come to an unexpected end.
The Brazilian heavyweight was on the verge of a title shot before he fought Alexander Volkov at UFC 321 in October.
Now, Jailton Almeida is looking for a new fight promotion after suffering back-to-back decision defeats.
The latest setback in his career came at UFC Vegas 113 against Rizvan Kuniev on Saturday night.

Fans react to Jailton Almeida’s UFC departure
A section of fans begged Dana White to cut Jailton Almeida after his second consecutive loss.
They complained about his wrestling-heavy style, which makes some of his fights tough to watch.
Naturally, there were plenty of people celebrating when Almeida’s UFC departure was confirmed on Wednesday evening – but there were many other fight fans who felt the decision to cut him was very harsh.
“This is the last thing the heavyweight division needed,” one fan said. While another added: “Well, thank f— for that.”
“Ngl I kinda hate this decision, give him one more chance at LHW,” a third fan commented.
“And [Tai] Tuivasa is still ranked. UFC is a joke company,” another X user fumed.
“One of the most terribly boring fighters of all time. This isn’t surprising,” someone else wrote.
“Lmao, loser did it to himself being such a snooze fest,” a sixth fan said.

3 more fights cut by the UFC
Jailton Almeida’s UFC release came 24 hours after three other fighters were cut from the roster.
Javid Basharat was the most shocking of them, as he was coming off a win at UFC Vegas 113.
The bantamweight fighter beat Gianni Vázquez, a late-replacement opponent who missed weight, by unanimous decision.
Lucas Almeida was also cut by the UFC. The Brazilian fought six times under the UFC banner, finishing with a 2-4 record, which makes his removal more understandable than Basharat’s.
The most high-profile fighter to get the axe was Alex Morono. The 24-fight Octagon veteran was released from the promotion following a lopsided decision defeat against Nikolay Veretennikov this past weekend.
Dana White ignored Morono’s request to have a retirement fight following his latest loss.
