# Broadband expansion Lags in Ludwigslust-Parchim Region
The Ludwigslust-Parchim region requires improved access to fast and very fast internet connections, according to recent survey results. Participants rated the current broadband expansion in the region’s cities and municipalities as only mediocre, awarding an average of 6.3 points out of 10 (where 1 is “very bad” and 10 is “very good”). This indicates meaningful room for improvement.
According to the Federal Network Agency, approximately 88 percent of households in the district currently have access to broadband connections with a data transmission rate of at least 50 megabits per second (Mbit/s). This falls below the national average of 92 percent, as shown on the broadband atlas of the Federal Network Agency.
## In Brüel only every fifth has fast internet
internet connections with a download speed of 50 Mbit/s are sufficient for streaming HD films and music. Though, a faster connection is recommended for seamless remote work, notably for video conferencing.
The cities of Parchim and hagenow boast near-complete coverage with broadband connections of at least 50 mbit/s (99% each), followed closely by Ludwigslust at 96%, according to the Federal Network Agency’s data.
Wittenburg lags behind, with only around 56 percent of households currently having access to such speeds.
Significant expansion is also needed in the municipality of Brüel,where only 21 percent of households have access to broadband connections with at least 50 Mbit/s. The situation is similarly challenging in Karrenzin, with a supply rate of just 24 percent.In Sternberg, approximately 74 percent of households have internet connections with at least 50 Mbit/s.
