Kapoor Dominates Sprint Races

Kapoor, a four-year-old filly trained by Bill Mott and ridden by Taylor Kingsley, has secured three consecutive frontrunning sprint wins, totaling a combined margin of 14 1/4 lengths. Her recent allowance race victory at Gulfstream Park on February 19th earned her a Beyer Speed Figure of 90. Notably, Kapoor qualified for the allowance race due to a narrow margin in her previous earnings – her win at Tampa Bay Downs yielded $19,175, just under the $20,000 threshold for other non-maiden/claiming races. The Godolphin-owned filly benefits from a strong pedigree. her dam, Kareena, achieved Beyer Speed Figures of 96 and 98, even as her second dam, India, recorded back-to-back figures of 100 and 103.

Gratefully Survives “Gut Checks”

Gratefully, a four-year-old filly owned by Adelphi Racing Club and Shelly and Russell Hume, and bred by WinStar Farm, continues her undefeated streak. Trained by Rob Falcone and ridden by Florent Geroux, Gratefully won the Wishing Well S. At Santa Anita on February 21st, earning a Beyer Speed Figure of 91. [Thoroughbred Daily News]

This victory marks Gratefully’s fifth win in as many races, demonstrating her resilience in challenging stretch duels. She is the first foal of Selflessly, a two-time Grade Stakes Winner (GSW). WinStar Farm acquired Selflessly after her racing career, bred her to Laoban, and subsequently sold both the mare and her daughter. Gratefully was purchased as a yearling for $155,000 by Adelphi.
