Varsity Blues Defeat Brock Badgers 79-73 to Close Road Trip

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s basketball team defeated the Brock Badgers 79-73 in St. Catharines on Oct. 31, ending a two-game road trip with a hard-fought win, varsityblues.ca reported.

Toronto opened the game shooting 63.2 per cent from the field and 62.5 per cent from three in the first quarter, while also cleaning up the boards effectively. Although the team’s offense struggled in the second quarter, their paint protection generated four blocks to limit Brock’s scoring, allowing the Blues to maintain a six-point lead going into the half.

Ballout and Hylton Lead Toronto Statistics

Second-year guard Mikey Ballout led the starting five with a game-high 27 points, including six timely three-point field goals to maintain momentum for Toronto. Fifth-year centre Nigel Hylton contributed a 14 point and 10 rebound double-double alongside five assists and no turnovers.

Fourth-year forward Simeon Jeffers added 15 points and six rebounds, while first-year guard Andrew Dangelas recorded 14 points, seven assists, and two steals. Third-year forward Lukas Prekovic rounded out the starting lineup with nine points and 10 rebounds. For Brock, Zach Hawley scored 24 points in 25 minutes, Andrew McKenna added 13 points and seven rebounds on 54.5 per cent shooting, and Birch Pockar finished with 12 points, four rebounds, and 2 assists.
