First networking session kicks off for young parents in Fengshan Parents Club The Fengshan Parents Club launched its inaugural networking session on April 26, 2026, drawing around 50 parents to share experiences on breastfeeding, postnatal mental health, infant care, and available support schemes. The event took place at Fengshan Hawker Centre, where Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong and East Coast GRC MP Hazlina Abdul Halim participated in activities, including a light-hearted moment taking over feeding duties from a mother. Speaking to the media at the sidelines of the event, MP Hazlina Abdul Halim, who oversees the Fengshan district, said her team and Fengshan grassroots leaders plan to host the networking session three times a year. She emphasized that the club maintains regular contact with parents through home visits and community events to better understand their needs. DPM Gan Kim Yong highlighted the importance of the “kampung spirit” during the gathering, urging unity among families amid global uncertainty. He similarly distributed baby bags to attendees as part of the club’s initiative to support new parents. The Fengshan Parents Club was established in September 2025 to assist first-time parents and families with young children by providing access to resources and educational programmes. Since its launch, club membership has grown by 30%, reaching approximately 100 families. Similar parent support groups have emerged in other communities across Singapore, including Bukit Panjang. The club’s Baby Gift Bag, introduced as its first initiative, contains essential items for both parents, and newborns. The networking session is designed to foster connections among families and create a safe space for young parents to exchange insights and seek guidance.
