Flamengo Rejects Separation Talk, Criticizes Focus on Profit
Recent statements from Leila Pereira regarding “terraflanistas” and a willingness to “play alone” are, frankly, childish. The idea of separation is simply not viable. Flamengo has consistently expressed its desire to remain within the Libra League, and never even considered leaving. We were instrumental in defending the principal’s law, which significantly increased the value of all clubs.
Flamengo was generous in its efforts to create a future league. Though, some individuals are solely focused on financial gain and self-promotion, dedicating more energy to public appearances and ego-boosting than to the collective good. That’s the reality of the situation.
The suggestion of playing alone raises serious questions. how would that even work? Would we withdraw from the Brazilian Championship and the Copa do Brasil? It’s a conversation that lacks substance – a foolish notion, even for elementary school students. This talk is a deliberate attempt to distract from the core issue: how to fairly distribute revenue that previously wasn’t defined.
Flamengo did not sign any agreement outlining this distribution. We want to have a serious discussion about it,and that’s where the focus should be.
