No. 4 Florida Gymnastics Faces Quad Meet Challenge in Texas

Denton, TX – The No. 4 University of Florida gymnastics team travels to Denton, Texas, this Friday, February 27, to compete in a quad meet against Texas Woman’s University, Arizona State, and Fisk University. This marks the Gators’ second quad meet of the season, following a recent road win against Georgia.

Gators Look to Continue Momentum

Florida (7-2) aims for a decisive victory against these non-conference opponents. The team is coming off a close 197.575–197.325 win against No. 6 Georgia on February 20 , and seeks to build on that momentum.

Familiar Foes

Even as the Gators haven’t faced these teams frequently in head-to-head matchups, they have a combined 35 prior meetings. Arizona State accounts for 30 of those matchups. This quad meet will likewise break Florida’s six-meet streak of contests against top-25 ranked teams.

Opponent Spotlight

Arizona State (5-5) presents the biggest challenge, with Florida holding a 14-16 record against the Sun Devils. Arizona State’s Safia El Mammann was named Big 12 Specialist of the Week on February 17. Yet, Texas Woman’s University (7-9) recently achieved a significant win, defeating Arizona State in a quad meet and setting a season-high score of 49.025 on the beam.

Fisk University enters the competition with added motivation, as the program is set to discontinue after the 2026 season.

Gators’ Strengths and Areas for Improvement

Florida matched its season-high vault score of 49.425 against Georgia. While vault remains the Gators’ lowest-ranked event at No. 10 nationally, they excel on the uneven bars, currently ranked No. 1 in the nation. The team stuck five of six landings on bars against Georgia. They will begin their rotation on the uneven bars this Friday.

Florida consistently outranks its opponents on all four apparatuses.

Key Performances

Kayla DiCello won the uneven bars with a 9.95 against Georgia, while Selena Harris-Miranda claimed the beam title (9.95) and the all-around title with an impressive 39.50.

Looking Ahead

“Everybody followed through,” coach Jenny Rowland said after the win against Georgia. “[They] did their job, trusted their training, trusted each other, and really came out and that is why we came out with a win.” Rowland and the Gators aim to continue this momentum as they prepare for the SEC Championships on March 21.
