FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — During Fort Pierce Commissioner James Taylor‘s first appearance, he received a $360,000 bond after he was arrested on allegations that he sent a 12-year-old girl nude pictures and asked her to do the same.
The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office (SLCSO) took 2nd District Commissioner James Taylor into custody on Thursday morning on 24 felony counts, including sending materials harmful to children by electronic equipment, lewd computer solicitation of a child, and sending obscenity to a minor.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the girl’s mother reached out to police in August 2024 about Snapchat messages sent by an adult to her daughter. The conversation turned explicit, the statement continued, and the adult allegedly sent several nude pictures.

“There’s no doubt in my mind, based on the images and the communications that were going on, that he knew he was talking to a minor, he could be identified in these photos, and they were explicit and just,” said Sheriff Richard Del Toro, “I wouldn’t use inappropriate. It’s not even the word you know, to say that for an adult dealing with a minor.”
Taylor’s 24 counts include:
- 6 counts of transmission of material harmful to minors by electronic equipment
- 6 counts of transfer or display of obscene material to a minor
- 6 offenses of harmful communication to a minor
