Djay-Lynn the Dolphin: Recovery Ongoing at SOS Dolfijn in Anna Paulowna

A common dolphin, named Djay-Lynn, is receiving intensive care at the SOS Dolfijn rehabilitation center in Anna Paulowna, Netherlands, after being stranded in Friesland. The dolphin, measuring 195cm in length and weighing 82 kg, is showing cautious signs of improvement, but requires 24-hour care.

Stranding and Rescue

Djay-Lynn was first discovered stranded in Friesland approximately one week ago. SOS Dolfijn immediately dispatched an ambulance to transport the dolphin to their facility for treatment. A local resident, Rinaldo, has been credited with discovering the dolphin and has given her the name Djay-Lynn. SOS Dolfijn is grateful for the outpouring of support and positive messages received from the public.

Current Condition and Care

According to Noordhollands Dagblad, Djay-Lynn’s condition remains critical, and she needs round-the-clock attention. The rehabilitation process is described as a “very exciting phase,” indicating the delicate nature of her recovery. She successfully survived her first night in rehab. Instagram posts reveal updates on her progress.

Recent Strandings in Friesland

Djay-Lynn is not the only dolphin recently stranded in the Friesland region. Another dolphin was also found ashore in Wierum, but unfortunately, it did not survive. Instagram reports detail the stranding of the first dolphin in Friesland, which was also transferred to SOS Dolfijn for care.
