Simone Swink to Oversee All ‘GMA’ Branded Shows
Simone Swink has been appointed to lead all “Good Morning America” (GMA) branded shows as ABC News navigates restructuring amid Disney layoffs. This expanded role places Swink at the helm of both the flagship “Good Morning America” and “GMA3,” signaling a consolidation of oversight within the network’s morning programming.
Leadership Changes at ABC News
The appointment, announced by ABC News President Kim Godwin, comes after a period of vacancy in the executive producer role for “Good Morning America,” following the departure of Michael Corn in April. Corn subsequently became president of Nexstar’s NewsNation and has denied allegations of sexual harassment made in a recent lawsuit. Hollywood Reporter
Swink, a veteran of “GMA” since 2010, has held various roles within the program, including writer, overseeing the writing department, leading the second hour and contributing in the control room. Godwin expressed confidence in Swink’s ability to drive innovation within the show, stating she is a “dynamic, thoughtful and creative leader.” Hollywood Reporter
Restructuring of ‘GMA3’
The changes extend to “GMA3,” which has experienced multiple rebrands and personnel shifts since its launch in 2018. In July 2025, ABC News shifted hosting duties for “GMA3” to the broader “Good Morning America” team after DeMarco Morgan and Eva Pilgrim departed. Pilgrim transitioned to hosting “Inside Edition,” although Morgan pursued another opportunity. NewscastStudio
Rotating hosts from “GMA,” including Lara Spencer, Will Reeve, Gio Benitez, Sam Champion, Rachel Scott, and James Longman, have filled in on “GMA3.” NewscastStudio The restructuring of “GMA3” included the departure of former executive producer Cat McKenzie in 2024, with Simone Swink assuming supervisory responsibilities for the hour.
