Android Auto is becoming even more helpful for drivers with the addition of Google’s Call Screen and Call Notes features. These tools aim to minimize distractions and boost productivity while on the road by intelligently managing incoming calls and providing detailed summaries of conversations. Previously limited to phones, and lacking functionality when connected to Android Auto, these features are now expanding to in-car systems, addressing a key frustration for commuters.

What is Call Screen and How Does it Work?

Call Screen is a feature designed to help you decide whether to answer an unknown number. When an incoming call arrives, you can activate Call Screen, and google Assistant will answer the call for you. The Assistant then asks the caller to state their name and the purpose of their call, providing you with a live, real-time transcript on your Android Auto display.this allows you to quickly assess the call’s importance and choose to answer, reject, or mark it as spam – all without interrupting your drive.

Currently, Call Screen is available on select Pixel and Android phones. It initially launched in the US,with manual screening expanding to Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland.

Introducing Call Notes: Automatic Call Summaries

Beyond screening calls, Android Auto will also support Call Notes. This feature automatically transcribes your calls, even when Call Screen isn’t actively used. After a call, you’ll receive a complete transcription, along with a concise summary highlighting key facts such as scheduled calendar events, tasks mentioned, and critically importent reminders. This is notably useful for drivers who frequently conduct business or manage personal affairs while commuting.

Call Notes is currently available in beta in Australia, Canada,India, and Ireland.

When Will these Features Be Available on Android Auto?

google expects Call Notes to arrive on Android Auto “later this year.” A specific launch date for Call Screen integration with Android Auto has not yet been announced.

Key Takeaways:

* Call screen: Filters unknown calls by having Google Assistant answer and provide a real-time transcript.
* Call Notes: Automatically transcribes all calls and summarizes key information like tasks and appointments.
* Availability: Call Screen is expanding to more regions, while Call Notes is currently in beta in select countries.
* Android Auto Integration: Both features are coming to Android Auto to enhance driver safety and productivity.

These new features represent a important step forward in making Android Auto a safer and more productive environment for drivers. By minimizing distractions and providing valuable call summaries, Google is helping drivers stay connected without compromising their focus on the road.
