Meghan McCain Criticizes Meghan Markle’s Upcoming Netflix Show
Meghan McCain, podcast host and daughter of the late Senator John McCain, has publicly criticized Meghan Markle’s upcoming Netflix show, With Love, Meghan. In a series of tweets, McCain expressed her belief that the Duchess of Sussex’s new series is “completely and utterly tone deaf” to the current state of the world.
McCain, who initially supported Markle, stated that her opinion changed after Markle’s perceived disrespect towards the royal family. She further argued that Markle’s move to focus on her American identity while neglecting societal issues makes the show ill-advised. McCain suggested that Markle should use her platform to contribute meaningfully to issues like food insecurity instead.
“There have been 2 terror attacks in 2 days, major wars raging and Americans can’t pay for groceries. We are a country in rage, uncertainty and intensity right now. This concept is ill advised,” McCain tweeted.
“I would have told her to do a show helping bring fresh food to food deserts in low income neighborhoods. Do something to help people instead of your ego. This is why the world doesn’t like you, nothing else. Just completely and utterly tone deaf to the moment,” she added.
With Love, Meghan, premiering on Netflix on January 15th, is a kitchen-and-garden series featuring Markle cooking at home with friends, offering homemaker tips, and showcasing her culinary skills.
Meanwhile, Markle has returned to Instagram, sharing the show’s trailer and expressing her excitement.
“I have been so excited to share this with you! I hope you love the show as much as I loved making it. Wishing you all a fantastic new year! Thanks to our amazing crew and the team @netflix. Beyond grateful for the support – and fun! As ever, Meghan.”
This contrasting reaction highlights the divided opinions surrounding Meghan Markle and her endeavors.
