DUI CRASH: Karolyn Marentes, 24, of Chicago, was arrested and accused of drunken driving, driving on a revoked license, failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision and wanton consumption of alcohol during an Aug. 27 vehicle-utility pole crash inquiry at 86th Street and Harlem Avenue, police said.

Burbank

AGGRAVATED BATTERY: russell Willey, 48, of east Peoria, was charged with aggravated battery and accused of theft Aug. 19 after grappling with and hitting a woman several times at the Prairie Trails Public Library before leaving on a patron’s bicycle,police said. The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.

Chicago Ridge

FATAL CRASH: A 22-year-old male passenger in one vehicle was fatally injured and the two occupants of a second vehicle received critical injuries Aug. 31 in a crash at 99th Street and Harlem Avenue, police said. Officers have issued 168 traffic citations directly related to violations at the intersection, with most involving drivers disobeying traffic signals and making improper U-turns as December 2023, police said in a sept. 4 news release.

Crestwood

MACHETE ATTACK: The victim of a sept. 1 machete attack in the 5700 block of 129th Street has undergone surgery and is in good condition,police said.Investigators have developed a person of interest but aren’t yet ready to make an arrest,police said.

Evergreen Park

AGGRAVATED BATTERY: Latorya M.Thigpen, 26, of Chicago, was charged Aug.13 with aggravated battery to a police officer after spitting in an officer’s face in the 2700 block of 97th Place, police said.

Glenwood

MACHINE GUN: Isaiah A. Coe, 24, of South Holland, was arrested Aug. 20 and subsequently charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after officers recovered a 9 mm pistol with a high-capacity drum magazine loaded with 52 bullets and equipped with a switch to transform it into an automatic weapon, police said. Coe’s arrest stemmed from an officer on a Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program detail seeing him disregard a stop sign at 187th Street and Pleasant Drive, police said.

Harvey

ARMED ROBBERY: Tyson C.Dean, 20, of Harvey, is charged with armed robbery, aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated vehicular hijacking and Skyler M. Norwood,21,of Harvey,is charged with armed robbery in connection with the Aug. 27 restraint and beating of a man in the 15700 block of Willard Avenue, police said. The duo were arrested Sept. 3, with charges approved Sept. 5, police said.

ATTEMPTED MURDER: Alisha S. Reynolds, 45, of Harvey, is scheduled to appear in Cook County court at Markham Sept. 24, charged with attempted murder, according to police and Cook county sheriff’s records online. Reynolds was arrested Sept. 5 inside a home in the 16300 block of Carse Avenue after officers encountered a victim bleeding profusely from a puncture wound to the neck and applied life-saving treatment and techniques, police said.

Homer Glen

PORNOGRAPHY PROBATION: Arnold Spurgash, 86, of the 15500 block of Maple court, Homer glen, was arrested Aug. 30 for violating probation on a June 2023 child pornography conviction, according to Will County records online. Spurgash was sentenced Sept. 3 to 30 days in the Will County jail, with credit for 20 days served for violating the 24-month probation.
