Diego Demme returns to Play After Brain Injury with Neuroathletic Training

Diego Demme (33) can breathe a sigh of relief. The Hertha player missed large parts of last season due to the effects of a concussion. After the first game of the season against Schalke 04,the midfielder again complained of dizziness.

In a test match against Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg (2-0), Demme was back in the starting lineup.

On the road to recovery, the former Champions League player (RB Leipzig, SSC Napoli) took a new approach – and trained his brain! The technical term: neuroathletics.

“After the concussion,I had problems with the trigeminal nerve. This meant that my eye didn’t move as it should,” Demme explains. Exercises led by fitness coach Rene Kagels provided a solution.
