Clinton Scolds Boebert Over Pizzagate Questioning During Epstein Deposition

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed disbelief and frustration when questioned by Representative Lauren Boebert (R-CO) about the debunked “Pizzagate” conspiracy theory during her recent deposition related to the Jeffrey Epstein case. The exchange, which occurred during a six-hour session before the House Oversight Committee, highlighted the contentious nature of the proceedings and Boebert’s line of questioning.

Pizzagate Revisited

“Pizzagate” is a false and widely discredited conspiracy theory that originated during the 2016 presidential election. It falsely alleged that high-ranking Democratic officials, including Hillary Clinton, were involved in a child sex-trafficking ring operating out of the Comet Ping Pong pizzeria in Washington, D.C. The theory was promoted by figures such as Alex Jones, Jack Posobiec, and Marjorie Taylor Greene, and culminated in a North Carolina man firing an assault rifle inside the restaurant while attempting to “investigate” the claims. Law enforcement found no evidence to support the conspiracy theory.

The Deposition Exchange

During the deposition, Boebert questioned Clinton about whether she had reviewed recent Epstein files for references to the 2016 claims regarding emails from Clinton’s campaign manager, John Podesta, and the Comet Ping Pong pizzeria. Clinton responded with strong disapproval, stating that “Pizzagate was totally made up” and an “outrageous allegation” that had harmful consequences, including inciting a shooting at the pizzeria. She expressed disbelief that Boebert would even reference the conspiracy theory.

Clinton’s lawyer intervened to clarify Boebert’s line of questioning, while Boebert maintained that the topic was relevant due to potential connections within the Epstein files. Clinton dismissed Boebert’s assertions, suggesting that those who believe in the conspiracy theory were adherents of QAnon.

Clinton’s Testimony on Epstein

Prior to the exchange regarding Pizzagate, Clinton testified that she had never met Jeffrey Epstein, had no communication with him, and only knew Ghislaine Maxwell as a casual acquaintance. She stated that she had repeatedly denied any connection to Epstein throughout the six-hour deposition.

Boebert’s Justification

Following the deposition, Boebert defended her questioning, stating that the topics of UFOs and Pizzagate arose from material within the Epstein files and opened up “a whole trove of questions” for investigators to pursue.

The incident underscores the ongoing political and public interest in the Epstein case and the willingness of some to revisit debunked conspiracy theories.
