PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) will unveil the Neira, a seven-seat electric SUV assembled in Cikarang with high local content, at the Gaikindo Auto Week (GAW) 2026 exhibition later this month, oto.detik.com reported.
The vehicle, named after Banda Neira in eastern Indonesia, carries features tailored to Indonesian roads—including 200 mm ground clearance, Bluelink connectivity, and a blind-spot view monitor—according to HMID Chief Operating Officer Fransiscus Soerjopranoto.
Named After Banda Neira, Built for Indonesian Roads
Fransiscus explained that the name comes directly from Banda Neira, a region in eastern Indonesia known as one of the world’s largest nickel producers—a key component in EV batteries—according to Jambi Independent. “Neira is part of Indonesia, originating from the place name Banda Neira. So this is a product made in Indonesia and suited to Indonesian characteristics,” he said during a presentation in South Jakarta on Thursday, November 5, oto.detik.com reported.
The SUV will be produced at Hyundai Manufacturing Indonesia in Cikarang. While export plans are on the table, Fransiscus emphasized that meeting domestic demand comes first.

Three Variants and a Rp 10 Million Pre-Booking
Kompas reported that a Hyundai salesperson in Jakarta said the Neira will be available in three variants—Essential, Style, and Prime—with an estimated price range of Rp 350 million to Rp 400 million. Consumers can place a pre-booking with a Rp 10 million deposit, the salesperson said, though HMID has not officially confirmed the pricing.
When asked whether the price would fall below Rp 400 million, Fransiscus neither confirmed nor denied the figure, saying only that the price would be revealed at GAW 2026 and would be “attractive,” oto.detik.com reported.
Strong Local Content at Cikarang Plant
The Neira’s local content level exceeds the typical TKDN (domestic component level) requirement for other electric vehicles produced in Indonesia, according to Fransiscus, as reported by oto.detik.com.
Four key features address Indonesian consumer preferences: higher ground clearance adjusted to local road contours, Bluelink smartphone integration, blind-spot view monitoring, and easy access to the third row for the seven-seat configuration, oto.detik.com and Jambi Independent reported.
Hyundai Sales Grow 15 Percent Despite Market Pressure
The Neira launch comes as Hyundai Indonesia reports 15% annual sales growth in 2026 despite global economic pressures, a weakening rupiah, and rising interest rates, according to VIVA.co.id and Oto. The growth has been driven largely by the Stargazer Cartenz, which has sold more than 1,000 units per month for four consecutive months since July 2026 after a price adjustment, Oto reported.
Fransiscus said Hyundai’s strategy is a “balanced powertrain” approach—offering conventional combustion engines, hybrids, and full EVs—to maintain competitiveness against new Chinese entrants in the Indonesian market, VIVA.co.id reported.
Neira Reveals Launch Timeline and Pricing Details
When will the Hyundai Neira launch? HMID plans to debut the Neira at GAW 2026 in late November 2026, oto.detik.com reported. However, a Hyundai salesperson told Kompas that the official launch is planned for January 2027, with deliveries starting at the end of that month.

How much will the Hyundai Neira cost? The estimated price is Rp 350 million to Rp 400 million, according to a salesperson quoted by Kompas. Pre-bookings are available with a Rp 10 million deposit, though HMID has not released official pricing.
What variants are available? The Neira will come in three variants: Essential, Style, and Prime, Kompas reported.
Where is it made? The Neira is produced at Hyundai Manufacturing Indonesia in Cikarang with high local content, oto.detik.com reported.
“We will ensure the vehicle is produced at Hyundai Manufacturing Indonesia in Cikarang. It will be exported later, but the most important thing is that we want to meet the needs of domestic consumers first,” Fransiscus said, according to oto.detik.com.
