Legislator Calls on IKN Authority to Address “Ghost City” Label

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Member of Commission II DPR RI Muhammad Khozin has requested the Archipelago Capital Authority (OIKN) to report on the progress of IKN following reports from foreign media labeling it a “ghost city.”

Khozin stated that the IKN Authority must respond to this negative label with accelerated progress adn regular public updates on development.

“The term ‘ghost city’ carries a pejorative meaning, suggesting a bleak future. OIKN must counter this label by accelerating performance and consistently reporting all developments to the public,” Khozin said in a press release on November 1, 2025.

Khozin emphasized the need for OIKN to use this criticism as an prospect for evaluation and improvement, notably in the area of public communication.
