IndiGo Flight returns to Patna Following Bird Strike
An IndiGo flight, designated IGO5009, safely returned to Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport in Patna on Wednesday morning after experiencing engine trouble shortly after departing for Delhi. The aircraft, carrying approximately 175 passengers, was forced to turn back due to a bird strike that caused vibrations in one of the engines. Authorities confirmed that all individuals on board – passengers and crew alike – were unharmed.
The incident unfolded at approximately 08:42 IST when the flight crew reported the bird strike. A subsequent inspection of the runway revealed fragments of a bird, confirming the cause of the issue. Dialog between the aircraft and the Approach Control Unit led to the decision for the flight to return to Patna. Emergency protocols were initiated, with a local standby declared, and the aircraft successfully landed on Runway 7 at 09:03 IST.
Following the safe landing,the airline announced plans to thoroughly inspect the aircraft to assess the extent of the damage. Passengers will be accommodated with choice travel arrangements to complete their journey to Delhi.
