Iran Developed Missiles with Libyan, North Korean Help, Not Russia
Mohammad-Ali Jafari stated in a recent online interview that Iran received assistance from libya and North Korea in developing its missile technology, but not from Russia.
he explained that during Iran’s early post-revolutionary years, the country was allowed to reverse-engineer systems and exchange limited technical information with Tripoli and Pyongyang.
“The russians offered no real help,” Jafari said. “Thay now need our missiles and drones.”
Iranian-designed drones have significantly aided Russia’s war in Ukraine, despite Tehran’s denials of providing thes weapons to moscow.
Conversely, Moscow offered little support during Iran’s recent conflict with Israel. The two nations have a long-term security framework, but Russia’s limited involvement highlights the boundaries of its support.
russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov recently stated his country is “engaged in supplying the equipment that the Islamic Republic of iran needs,” even with ongoing UN sanctions.
‘Russia now seeking Iranian technology’
Iran has “never relied on Russia for” missile development, according to Jafari. The situation has seemingly reversed, with Russia now seeking Iranian technology.
