Jacksonville Beach, Florida – Authorities are bolstering police presence this weekend as the community remains on edge following a shooting that injured five teenagers during an unpermitted gathering near the Community First Seawalk Music Festival last Saturday. The Jacksonville Beach Police Department (JBPD) is actively monitoring for potential unpermitted events and increasing patrols in areas prone to large crowds.

Details of the Shooting

The shooting occurred on February 27, 2026, in the vicinity of Beach Boulevard and 2nd Street, coinciding with the Seawalk Music Festival. Four minors and one adult sustained injuries as a result of the incident. Police were initially alerted to a “takeover” event on February 16, 2026, by school board police, and investigations revealed connections to a similar gathering at the Avenues Mall on Valentine’s Day.

Police Response and Community Concerns

The JBPD has deployed officers to monitor potential gatherings and increase patrols. Commander Tom Bingham emphasized the department’s strategy of assigning officers with specialized skills to address large crowds.
