Jazz pianist Lucky Guri dies at 73

The pianist Joaquim Guri, better known as Lucky Guria history of jazz in Catalonia, has died at the age of 73, as reported this Friday by TV3, where for years he was his main pianist, appearing in numerous programs like Three peaks and a peak o No title by Andreu Buenafuente.

Born in Calella (Barcelona) in 1950, he soon moved to the Catalan capital, where he began his career, participating in bands such as the New Jazz Trio and Lucky Guri Trio, or accompanying Nova Cançó artists such as Guillermina Motta, Maria del Mar Bonet or Núria Feliu.

He studied Law, but developed his career in the field of music, from 1971, in spaces like La Cova del Dracfrom Calle Tuset, or participating in the Canet Rock.

In those years he had the opportunity to play accompanying great figures of american jazzbeing a pioneer in the introduction of the electric piano in concerts.

He entered TV3 at the hands of the journalist Joaquim Maria Puyal and soon it was common to see him in different programs with Antoni Bassas, Maria Pau Huguet or Andreu Buenafuente.
