John Alford, known for his roles in the British television series Grange Hill and London’s Burning, has died in prison at the age of 54. The actor, whose real name was John Shannon, was found dead at HMP Bure in Norfolk on March 13, 2026, just two months after being sentenced for sexual assault.
Early Life and Career
Born on October 30, 1971, in Glasgow, Scotland, Alford began his acting career at the age of 11, attending Anna Scher’s stage school in London alongside future EastEnders actors Sid Owen and Patsy Palmer.
