Jürgen Klopp Considers Return to Coaching Amidst Red Bull Restructuring

Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is reportedly contemplating a return to the sidelines, less than a year after assuming the role of global director of football within the Red Bull organization. Concerns over the performance of Red Bull’s teams, particularly RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg, are fueling speculation about his future with the company.

Klopp’s Illustrious Coaching Career

Klopp began his managerial career in 2001 with Mainz, subsequently achieving significant success at Borussia Dortmund (2008-2015) and Liverpool (2015-2024). His accolades include three league titles, seven domestic cups, and a Champions League title with Liverpool in 2019.

Red Bull’s Performance and Internal Disagreements

According to reports from the Austrian newspaper Salzburger Nachrichten, there is a disconnect between Klopp and Red Bull leadership regarding the development of RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg. RB Leipzig currently sits 5th in the Bundesliga, jeopardizing their chances of Champions League qualification. Red Bull Salzburg, while leading the Austrian Bundesliga, failed to advance beyond the group stage of the Europa League. Klopp was reportedly not consulted in the appointment of Antoine Kombouaré as the fresh coach of Paris FC, in which Red Bull holds a 10% stake.

Red Bull’s Response

Oliver Mintzlaff, CEO of Red Bull, has publicly refuted the reports, stating to Sky Sports Germany: “This is absurd and completely unfounded. Quite the contrary: we are extremely satisfied with the function of Jürgen Klopp. He invests a lot, constantly communicates with our coaches and sports directors, and sustainably develops our Red Bull playing philosophy. We are convinced that he is the man for the job. It is on him that we concentrate all our efforts and all our attention.”

Current Ranking of Ugo Humbert

As of February 2, 2026, French tennis player Ugo Humbert is ranked No. 38 in the world in ATP singles rankings.

The situation remains fluid, and further developments are anticipated regarding Klopp’s position within the Red Bull organization.
