The Enduring Appeal of Just Dance: Why We’re Still Moving to the Beat
Picture this: it’s Christmas morning, you’re 7 years traditional. You open a present from your parents, and there it is – Just Dance 4. You spend the rest of the evening taking turns with your siblings on the Wii, carefully and excitedly learning the moves to “Beauty And A Beat” by Justin Bieber featuring Nicki Minaj. For many, that may be the last time they actually played the game. But for a growing number of people, the appeal of Just Dance endures.
As a way to cope with the stress of finals last semester, I began playing Just Dance to take breaks in between studying. Over winter break, the grind didn’t stop. My roommate and I spent hours playing the game. Interestingly enough, Just Dance is still as fun as it was when we were kids. Not only is it a great way to exercise; it’s also good for the brain and for boosting your mood. If you’re interested in switching up your workout routine, need a midday pick-me-up, or just believe that life is simply too stressful not to dance, this article is for you.

Here are my top five Just Dance songs:
- “Super Bass” – Nicki Minaj: This song is an immediate mood booster, and the choreography matches the energy perfectly.
- “Hey Ya!” – OutKast: For those wanting to “shake it like a Polaroid picture,” this song delivers. With high energy and funky fresh moves, it puts a smile on your face from the remarkably first beat.

Hopefully, you are now equipped with the knowledge you need to dance the night away. If you don’t have a gaming device, there are plenty of videos available online to dance along to.
So, gather your friends or turn on that TV alone and take some time to let loose. Because really, what’s life without a little spice?
Happy dancing!
