Karlos Vémola Faces Fallout After Arrest, Sponsors Re-evaluate Partnerships

Czech mixed martial artist Karlos Vémola is navigating professional challenges following his recent arrest and subsequent release on bail. The legal proceedings have prompted some sponsors to reassess their relationships with the Oktagon MMA fighter, leading to a period of uncertainty for “The Terminator.”

Sponsor Concerns and Vémola’s Response

Vémola acknowledged that several partners have distanced themselves from him in the wake of the arrest. He expressed understanding for their decisions, recognizing the potential reputational risks associated with continued collaboration during an ongoing investigation. He stated he wasn’t surprised by the departures and doesn’t blame those who chose to suspend ties.

“There are certainly people who have turned away from me. At the outset, I would like to say that I am not at all surprised by them and I certainly do not blame them. It was a huge cause. Some may have had the impression that if I did not continue to cooperate with them, that I was offended or offended. That’s definitely not true. I understand that. The case is so huge that some companies do not want to be associated with it until it is solved. This is more than understandable to me…” Vémola shared in a video on his Instagram account, as transcribed by Kaočko.cz.

Vémola also expressed disappointment with the lack of communication from some long-term partners, particularly one he considered a friend. He felt a phone call or message would have been appropriate before ending their business relationship.

“I didn’t understand a little from some of them. One of my partners, the longest I’ve ever had… I understand that his company no longer wants to work with me, but I didn’t take it humanly as we are just business partners, but also friends. But he distanced himself completely and I am morally sorry for that. When it’s cleared up, I’d like to sit down with these people. They didn’t even give me a chance to prove it wasn’t true. To end cooperation with someone without even calling or texting them seems pretty stupid and, given the relationship we had, sad.”

Despite the off-cage issues, Vémola’s career continues. Oktagon MMA is scheduled to host Oktagon 85, featuring the following matchups:
