Britney Spears Arrested for DUI in California
Britney Spears was arrested on Wednesday night in Ventura County, California, on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The arrest comes five years after the termination of her 13-year conservatorship and amidst ongoing concerns for her well-being.
Details of the Arrest
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), officers detained Spears around 9:30 p.m. Local time after observing her driving a 2026 black BMW convertible “erratically at a high rate of speed” on US-101 BBC News. She reportedly showed signs of impairment and underwent field sobriety tests.
Police dispatch audio obtained by Page Six and TMZ indicated that authorities requested a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) to assess Spears during the incident HuffPost. Blood tests were also administered at a hospital to determine her blood alcohol content and check for the presence of drugs HuffPost.
Spears was taken into custody around 3 a.m. Thursday and released shortly after 6 a.m., according to inmate records from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office USA Today.
