Sports Clubs in Katlenburg-Lindau Launch Collaborative Initiative to Boost Participation

Katlenburg-Lindau, Germany – In a move aimed at enhancing sports participation and diversifying offerings for members, sports clubs within the Katlenburg-Lindau municipality are embarking on a collaborative effort, effective April 1st, 2026. The initiative, discussed at a recent general meeting, seeks to improve the utilization of all sports disciplines and provide greater access to a wider range of activities for the community.

Expanding Access and Opportunities

The core objective of this partnership is to encourage members to explore different sports and capture advantage of new opportunities. The clubs aim to create a more active, diverse, and attractive sporting environment for all.

Trial Phase Details

The collaborative program will operate on a trial basis from April 1st to December 31st, 2026. During this period, members will be able to participate in sports offerings from other clubs, subject to space availability. A waiting list system, managed by the respective trainers, will be implemented when classes are full.

Membership and Registration

New participants interested in trying out different sports will be registered by the trainer, who will also verify the individual’s club affiliation. The trainer will then forward this information to the membership administrator of their own club, who will confirm membership status with the offering club. If a participant is not already a member, they will be required to join the club providing the desired activity. Any applicable sectional contribution fees for the chosen sport will be billed directly by the offering club.

Insurance Coverage

Participants can be assured that insurance coverage is provided through the sports insurance contract between LandesSportBund Niedersachsen and ARAG-Sportversicherung, as all participating clubs are members of the LSB. Municipal damage compensation covers children and young people.

Looking Ahead

Following the trial phase, an evaluation will be conducted to assess the program’s success and determine future steps. This collaborative approach represents a significant step towards strengthening the local sports community and promoting a more active lifestyle for residents of Katlenburg-Lindau.

Volunteer Recognition

In related news, Dierk Iben was recently honored for his more than ten years of dedicated service as the head of the men’s sports department for those over 50. His commitment to organizing training, motivating the group, and fostering a sense of community was recognized through the “Volunteering Surprised” initiative FC Lindau-Harz.
